I like Boats.  In many ways, they are like airplanes.  They move under their own power, go interesting places, have distinct personalities and alternate lives of peace and calm with lives of storm and danger.  And, as with airplanes, they are subject to the vagaries of the weather - wind, tide, current and fog.

I have lots of boat pictures, but some of my favorites are of Fishing Boats - not pleasure craft or day charter boats - but gnarly, beat-up, hard-working fishing boats - where people work hard and where, sometimes, people die.

"They That Go Down To The Sea In Ships"

In the book Perfect Storm,
the author cites a sad quote:
"It's not fish you're eating, it's men's lives...."

The Seattle Memorial celebrates approaching 1000 lives.
In a similar Memorial in Gloucester, Mass.,
over 10,000 fishermen are memorialized.
Men's Lives? .... indeed.

I'm not the only one....

I use a camera..... he uses a brush.
